Join the Thanet Fabians for a lively evening of discussion on education

April 14th 2016, 7-9pm, Red Hall, 11 Grosvenor Road, Broadstairs, Kent, CT10 2BT

The Fabian Society is Britain’s oldest political think tank. Founded in 1884, the Society is at the forefront of developing political ideas and public policy on the left.

A group of local political activists have set up a Thanet Fabian Society. The first inaugural meeting took place on 20th November in Ramsgate and focused on a analysis of poverty, how it affects our communities and what can be done to tackle it. Over 80 people attended with many signing up as new members.

Each meeting takes a different political theme as a focus for discussion with invited speakers speaking to the topic.  Light refreshments are available.  Existing members and all interested/curious are welcome.

On April 14th, speakers include:

Bridget Chapman, Alliance Against Academies & Christine Dickenson, KENT NUT Secretary

This is a great opportunity to find out what’s going on in our education system, to look at the challenges our teachers, support staff & pupils face. Education will always be a fundamentally important issue and it is more & more being used as a political football.  It’s vital that we all know the facts and work together to shape our education system to ensure its fit for purpose and delivers what young adults need in preparing for society in every sense.

As usual there will be two great speakers, questions will be taken & then the floor will be opened for general debate.

Everyone is welcome, you don’t have to be a member of the Labour Party.
