Dick Symonds, Labour Party member and with long experience of working as a doctor in the NHS, provided us with this comment on this week’s strike action at the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital in Margate.
“The Junior Doctors at QEQM held an enthusiastic picket outside the main building for the two days of the strike. They are fighting to retain their conditions for working on Saturdays , which is compulsory, and to ensure that patients get full coverage at weekends. At a BMA (East Kent) meeting I promised that South Thanet Labour would support them again, which was well received by the Junior Doctors’ national negotiator who was present. Consequently some members  attended for the Wednesday morning for a couple of hours before leaving for other demonstrations.
