Building a Thriving Thanet: Public Lecture by Neil McInroy,
Chief Executive of the Centre for Local Economic Strategy
South Thanet Labour is delighted to welcome Neil McInroy to Thanet to deliver a public lecture on how to build a thriving Thanet for all.
Neil will introduce the work being done to build community wealth at local level and highlight new forms of local government and governing in many locations across the UK. He will highlight the role of councils (including Preston) and other institutions in ensuring that spending and contracts are sourced locally, with social justice aims at the forefront. Neil will also outline some of the new forms of community organising that are springing up around the country.
Community wealth building offers an opportunity for local people to take back control, to ensure that the benefits of local growth are invested in their local areas, are used to support investment in productive economic activities and that people and their local institutions can work together on an agenda of shared benefit.
We know that locally, many people are fed up with local government and are interested in new ways of doing things. Labour is at the forefront in exploring local democracy, shared benefit and fair communities. We hope that you will join us at this exciting opportunity to discuss these issues and opportunities.
There is a 50 seat capacity at Broad Street Hall. Please click on the following link to secure your FREE ticket
