Raushan Ara – Labour Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for South Thanet
The South Thanet Constituency Labour Party is delighted that Raushan Ara has been selected as the prospective parliamentary candidate in the general election.
Raushan is well known to many as a community activist who cares passionately about the people of Ramsgate. Raushan has worked tirelessly over the years organising fundraising events to support local charities and puts a great deal of energy into working with community groups, the homeless and vulnerable people in Ramsgate. She’s coordinated activities that have focused on cleaning up and making attractive public areas in the town centre and has been able to pull in a wide range of volunteer helpers.
As a small business owner, Raushan brings particular skills and expertise as well as a determination to work for all businesses, large and small, across the constituency and to raise the profile of the area as one that is worth investing in. Regeneration and investment in our local economy, in our young people, in jobs and in our communities and buildings is a real focus for Raushan.
As the parent of a child with specific needs, Raushan has real life experience in liaising with social services, health and educational support for children and young adults and how systems and organisations interact with individuals, their families and their carers. Raushan is aware of the devastating impact that austerity and cuts are having on our health, education and social services and care provision locally and intends to be a strong voice championing the needs of all residents in South Thanet.
“I am so pleased to have been selected as the Labour Prospective Parliamentary Candidate and I will spend the next 6 weeks campaigning to persuade people that I have the experience and skills that will enable me to be a hard-working Member of Parliament for South Thanet.”
