Labour women across Thanet were delighted that there was so much on offer for this year’s International Women’s Day.  Thanet’s POW! goes from strength to strength and many women active in local politics were able to participate in a wide range of exciting activities.  POW!THANET is a festival of Arts and Culture celebrating and exploring issues around feminism, women and girls.

The local Labour Party saw Karen Constantine leading a successful workshop for women on rights and issues at work at the Royal Temple Yacht Club as well as another successful IWD fundraiser lunch at Raushan Ara’s Ramsgate Tandoori.  A first this year was the South Thanet Labour IWD Tea Party, held on Sunday 12th March from 3-6pm to try and be as accessible as possible to all women.  With activities for children, tea, coffee, cake and discussion, it was a lively event that drew in women who are new to the Labour Party.

With a big day planned this Saturday, South Thanet Labour’s Election Academy Training Day, and ongoing campaigning for the Kent County Council elections, there’s plenty for any and all in the local Labour movement to be involved with.

Congratulations and thank you to all involved in the setting up and running of so many events this month.
