David Green selected as candidate for Thanet District Council in upcoming Newington by-election.

Ramsgate branch met on Thursday evening to select its candidates to fight the by-election in Newington ward in Ramsgate caused by the resignation of UKIP councillor Mo Leys.  Two seats are to be contested – the seat on TDC and the seat on Ramsgate Town Council

David Green has long experience as both a Ramsgate councillor and as a TDC Cabinet member.  He is a keen activist and is regularly out on the streets speaking to residents and delivering leaflets.  He will bring a wealth of experience to the campaign and, if elected, to the residents of Newington and the Labour Group at TDC.

The branch also selected Penny Newman to stand as our candidate for the Ramsgate Town Council seat.  Penny is known to all as our stalwart volunteer office manager and has a great deal of experience in the field of benefits and disability.

Everyone at the Ramsgate branch offers their congratulations to David and Penny.

Ramsgate was lucky enough to have had a strong field of candidates from which to select their candidates.  Many thanks to those who did stand.  There are plenty more elections to be fought and we look forward to members being able to stand again as prospective candidates.
